Apparently we have a “singer” on our hands! This makes me happy and I want to go wake her up from her nap and cuddle with her

Cute-Baby-In-Random-Places Pictures
Monday, February 23rd, 2009
Wes, Bryce and I went to Ikea on Saturday to get some new holders for our DVD’s. 1.) Because Bryce is eventually going to crawl and we didn’t want the DVD’s on the ground where she could pull at them, and 2.) I just noticed the old DVD holder has a broken foot and will probably fall on the aforementioned baby. That would be sad; obviously.
Anyway, I love to put my kid into random places and take pictures of her, I think it’s adorable
It’s nice now because she can sit up but can’t crawl yet. So if I leave her in one place, she pretty much stays there. I have to get these pictures out of the way now because I know once she learns how to crawl then it’s no more cute-baby-in-random-places pictures. By the way, there are a LOT of these… It was hard to narrow it down
And on to the pictures, because I know that is why you are really here. The kid:

When she has a “big-girl” bed, I’m totally buying this canopy, it’s awesome! If I weren’t a 26 year old adult, I might buy it for myself. Also, if I slept in a twin bed it might work. But I don’t.

Had to get a family picture while we were there!

Bryce loves to eat fake rocks. I’m sure Ikea employees were less than thrilled.

“This one! I want this one, mom!”

She adored that chair
I couldn’t get her to look at the camera for the life of me. Wes is standing off to the left which is where she’s looking. She’s always searching for him, even when he’s not home. After I’m done feeding her (we usually sit on the couch upstairs to nurse when we’re home) she’ll stand on my lap and stare into the closet or the bathroom looking for dad. It’s kind of cute.

She also loved this little egg-chair. Her hands were running everywhere!

This cart was her favorite! Immediately after I set her in there she was kicking her feet furiously and had the biggest grin! I realize that this is not a random place to have a baby, but I liked the picture and because this is my blog I’m putting it up here anyway

$10 for that cute soft toy! What a steal..
This is my favorite from the day. Wes set her in a big bin full of stuffed animals and she really could not be any cuter! People definitely stared
They were just jealous.

Wall Blank
Thursday, February 19th, 2009
If you have not heard of Wall Blank, you should really go check it out. Here’s the gist of it: “Wall Blank is new limited edition art everyday. Available for one week or until sold out.” Pretty simple
Anyways, they either contact you for wanting to sell your art, or you can submit photos or pieces of art that you have done to them and then they decide if they want to sell it or not. So I decided to submit one of my recent, favorite photos and they decided that they would sell it for me! Yay!
You can find it here: Faded.
Yay for supporting local arts! It will be available until Tuesday the 24th. I’m a little late in getting this notice up

The Other Day…
Friday, February 6th, 2009
We had such warm weather the other day. It was 60 degrees (+) in January! So we had to take advantage of it and the five of us (our housemates, Dave and Lauren), and the two dogs, went for a walk! We had started walking right around when the sun was on its way down and the light was just wonderful
We gave Bryce a water bottle to hold while we were waiting for Dave and Lauren to arrive, and I tell you what.. she held on to that thing like it was her favorite blanket. The entire walk! She didn’t move, she just clung to it like a monkey to a banana (that was a bad analogy, but I couldn’t think of anything else!)

Here’s some prettiness that we saw along the way:

I loved these bushes, the branches were such a beautiful red,

Oh these poor little flowers… they were so cute, small and.. dead… Perfectly (almost) preserved in the latest frost.

This one’s not particularly wonderful, i just love how the sun was shining through and made the branches appear like there was a large spider web laying inside:

This is my favorite picture of the week! Some pretty Juniper berries and bokeh galore! I just love it

I was trying to take a picture of this tree and every picture I took just looked lame, so I took the focus all the way back and got a much better result. I love the sun dot bokeh on the bottom.

Just some pebbles with long shadows,

This was taken at the end of our walk. See how she’s still holding on to that bottle? She is one determined little girl. Her poor, chubby fingers were frozen by the time we were finished, but she was quite content

Rainbow Cake
Wednesday, February 4th, 2009
Man! I can’t believe I never posted about this awesome cake! I found it online at Omnomicon, which is an awesome food blog. She posted this great recipe that was basically white cake mix, diet sprite (I KNOW!) and food coloring. That’s it. No eggs, no oil, no nothing. Just awesomeness
Here are the results of the great cake:
You can see the bowls in the background where I mixed the batter with all the colors. Dave (our “landlord”) licked three of them clean. He likes sugar apparently.
Spoons with yummy, magically-colored icing!
The cakes. Yuuuum….
The finished product. Oh. My. Goodness. SO GOOD! She also gives a recipe for how to make icing, but I was lazy and just used the random Betty Crocker cheesecake icing that we had in the cupboard (which was also amazingly good).
Here is the original link to the cake. It was super simple and fun to make. I felt like I was five years old again, playing with all the colors. I’m planning on making rainbow cupcakes this weekend for my friends daughter’s birthday who is turning ONE!
