Where the Wild Things Are

Friday, March 27th, 2009

I’m super, super excited for this movie!

But I’m not going to lie, it looks a little dark for a kids movie, anyone else? I mean, the book itself is a little creepy, but I’m still excited :)

Whaa?! Two posts in one day?

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

I’m pretty sure that will never happen again! Ha!
My friend Scooter is starting his own musical gig, and he asked me to take some pictures of him for promo shots. We decided on Georgetown for the location because, well, it’s just awesome! Wes and I went early so we could go to Georgetown Cupcake, but the line was FOREVER long, and since we had Bryce with us, I didn’t really want to wait in line. Plus, it was such a gorgeous day outside I wanted to walk around in the sunshine while it lasted (sidenote: it’s 40 and raining today…. glad I soaked up that sun when I could!).

Scotter and his fiance, Ashley, joined us a bit later and we got to some picture taking, and here they are:

1

This is probably my favorite photo, even though you can’t see his face. I don’t know what it is about sunflare that makes me so giddy, but man… it does something for me!

2

I think this looks like an emo-Scooter, but I like it anyway :)

3

“Look off into the distance,” I said. Man, I am not good at directing people. If anyone has any suggestions, I am open!

4

Just a little smile :)

5

I like this one as well. It was his idea to take pictures from me looking down on him. At least my subjects know how to pose themselves :)

6

This was also his idea. “The Neon Lights” is the name of his band.

7

Somehow this looks suuuuper sharpened in here. This is the one photo I edited in PhotoShop and I love it, but think it came out a little too sharp.

8

(ah! I hear the baby squaking, I gotta wrap this up!)

9

This is Ashley, Scooter’s fiancee. She came along as the wardrobe assistant, and is just fun to hang out with in general! Congrats you two!

Scooter, I’ll get these to you ASAP, I promise :)

Tina’s Bridal Shower

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Last Saturday (or the one before that even…) I went to a dear friends bridal shower. I have known Tina since 8th grade and she is now getting married to a wonderful man named Ben. The first time I met Ben I knew that he was the one for Tina. The way he treated her and how they interacted, it was just the way it should be. I’m so excited to go to their wedding in June! (yay! less than 100 days, T!)

Here are a few pictures from her shower at one of the bridesmaids houses (geeze, speak English much, Amanda?):

Tina

Our guest of honor, Miss Tina :) Seriously, you look beautiful, my dear!

There were M&M’s EVERYWHERE! I mean, not that I’m complaining about it or anything :) And a story behind the little decorative flowers on the table. Ashley and Elyse went out looking for little bits to decorate the table. They found these cute, little, pink and yellow flowers and scattered them on the tables. They soon found out that the flowers smelled… soapy? They were bath soaps. Good job, girls :)

Here are some more details:

The Cake!

The Cake!

This cake was AWESOME. Elyse’s boyfriend, Brad, made this cake for the shower. Apparently he can do anything! It was also a Funfetti cake which totally made my day :)

On the left we have Jenny who is an actress living in New York. You should really hire her if you need an actress, she’s pretty awesome (I’m just saying..). On the right is Ashley, whose (who’s?) parents house we were having the shower at. On the mug is Ashley’s face (I was going to make a “on the mug is Ashley’s mug” joke, but rolled my eyes at myself and decided it wasn’t worth it). As you can see she was pretty excited about her mom handing out coffee mugs with her face on them.

9

The bridesmaids, being good friends, made Tina get up and show us all how to dance the Flamenco. I stood in the back and took pictures. :)

10

Here are Tina and her girls (l – r): Elyse, Ashley, Tina, Seana, and Kristen. I’ve known all of them since (at least) high school, they are such wonderful ladies and I adore them :)

DC Flickr Meetup

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Dude… I suck at blogging… oh well :)

Last Saturday, Wes, Bryce and I went to DC to meet up with some fun friends from Flickr. There were a BUNCH of people that I did not know, and a few that I did. Some people came from New York and Pennsylvania just to be involved in this fun group of awesomeness.

Here’s some pictures from the cold, grey (but fun) day:

Aw, <3.

These are people that I actually do know, on the top we have Erin and John (they both live in Ashburn), and on the bottom we have another Erin (who lives in New York) and her boyfriend Jason (who lives in Fairfax). They are pretty much awesome :)

2

Here is the action! When you get a bunch of photographer together you get some, um… weird pictures. I’ll let you guess what their pictures turned out like :)

3

Another picture of Jason and Erin. I seem to have a lot of those, they’re just so darn cute together!

4

Ahh, the Capitol.

5And the Lincoln Memorial.

6

The baby passed out pretty early in her AWESOME, new-to-us, only-$30-from-Craigslist stroller :)

7

And speaking of the baby… This just melts my heart :) *sigh*

8

And here’s the other love of my life in front of the Monument. Patriotic Wes :D

9

Looking up at the monument and a flag.

10

11

We found this awesome tree that was right next to the monument, and of course, had to take pictures in it. Bryce wanted her own close up, and it’s hard to not oblige her :)

12

Hey! It’s Super-Baby!

13

Did you know that they empty the Reflecting Pool in the winter? I didn’t either… Apparently it is so the water does not expand and break the cement. Who knew? Wes decided that he wanted to take a little dip. In the empty Reflecting Pool. In the cold. He is a crazy man :)

14

Of course we had to do a jumping shot!
(are you tired yet of all the pictures and my lame narrative? I am :)

15

Another picture to add to the Baby in Random Places book :) I think I’m going to call it, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.” Although I feel like that might be copyright infringement. Sorry, Dr. Seuss.

cuuuupcakes!

cuuuupcakes!

Wes had to leave early in order to get to the Edge practice at church. So before we left the area I made sure that we visited Georgetown Cupcakes. I had a craving and I needed it fulfilled (no, I’m not pregnant again…).  BEST. CUPCAKES. EVER. And totally worth the wait in the drizzling rain! And worth it to make us rush to get back home in time :) The flavors we got were (top, l-r) Mocah, Chocolate3, Peanut-butter/Chocolate, (bottom, l-r) Vanilla, Chocolate2, and Red Velvet. Please wipe the drool off your screen.

And now the baby is awake so I must go :)
