California – Take 1

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

So… blogging, eh? What’s that like? Anyway…
Wes, Bryce and I headed out to California in June for a 2 week vacation. We stayed in the San Francisco/East Bay area for a week, and then headed down to San Diego for another week. SO. MUCH. FUN! I have missed California dearly and now that we’re back on the east coast, I can’t wait to get back out West :) I have SO many pictures, but I’m trying to narrow it down to show an idea of what we experienced. This post will be from our Northern California funness (it’s a word, really).

We visited Pier 39, even though it’s a tourist trap and we had both been there already. We ate at Neptune’s Palace, my mom worked there when she lived in San Francisco. You can see the carousel and the pointy bank (which I’ve already forgotten the name of) in the background. We got to sit at a table that overlooked the seals at Pier 39. Yay for touristy things :)

Another view of the bridge. I love this sign :) I have other touristy shots of the GG Bridge, but I like this one the best I think.

Met up with some pretty famous flickr friends. L-R: *Cinnamon, DottieBoBottie, and DoubleCappuccino. It was such a nice time meeting them! We went to Blue Bottle Cafe in the Mint district (skeeeetchy area, but amazing coffee!) and then went to Public, a hair place, where the three of them had just had a photo show.

My Latte. It tasted better than it looked! I won’t lie, I was skeptical about the quality of the coffee. I mean, it sure is pretty and all, but you know how that goes. Good looking food isn’t always that good :) This blew me out of the water! I knew as soon as we walked into the coffee shop that I was not going to be disappointed. Pretty and delicious, can’t go wrong with Blue Bottle.

This is Seth’s (Doublecappuccino) camera. I want it. *sigh*

6

This really has nothing to do with the trip. We found this bike outside of Blue Bottle. Had to capture it before we left :)

7

We took a venture up north to Stinson Beach. Bryce had her first experience of the beach here! As you can see, she’s not too sure about the sand. She really didn’t like the dry sand at all (except to eat it), but the wet sand, since it didn’t give-way under her, I guess, she enjoyed more.

Wes took Bryce out on one of the rocks in the ocean before the waves got them. It was a bit chilly that day. You never really expect to wear a fleece jacket and jeans at the beach, but you know, it is Northern California, apparently it’s cold all the time.

Family portrait time! I love this one :)

The next post will be from our trip to Napa! Wineries and babies really do mix!
