Baby Eva (Northern Virginia Baby Photographer)

She’s finally here! Baby Eva, you have been long awaited in the Payne family that is full of boys
Eva is actually Dave and Lauren’s first, but everyone (myself included) thought that Lauren was going to have a boy. Needless to say, Eva was a surprise! And what a cute little surprise she is, take a look for yourself:

oh the baby yawns, they get me every time!

This kid seriously had the best faces! She is definitely her father’s child,

This scale used to be the scale that they weighed Dave’s sister on, I love family stuff that’s handed down like that:

Again with the faces

Dave and Lauren are big missions people and have travelled all over the world. On their last trip to Africa, they picked up a few baskets and Dave thought we should try Eva out in one of them. Let me say, before you see this next picture, that Eva is 10 days old when I took these pictures. Ten. The child had a stronger neck than most 2 month olds that I’ve met! Her head was up for most of the pictures, and she was awake almost the whole session! Dave and Lauren certainly have their work cut out for them!

She was hungry at this point
It takes a lot of energy to keep your head up for that long!

Along with baby yawns, baby feet also get me, I mean just look at the cute little piggies

The diaper bag is courtesy of Lauren’s mom, so we had to put it to good use

Thought we’d end with the baby feet ’cause I love them so much!

Dave and Lauren, congratulations to you both! I can’t wait to see baby Eva grow and what she will become. I have no doubt that you two will be the best of parents and that Eva will grow up in a house full of love. Can’t wait to do some family pictures with you all!

My friend Linda, and her husband Tom, have a beauuutiful little girl named Sophie. She really is quite a stunning little girl, I mean, it would be hard not to be with such good looking parents!
Here’s some fun pictures from the day!

Having some fun with her stuffed animals!

Love those little feet!

A little view of her wonderfully decorated room, this is her chandelier that hangs so gracefully (I want this so much!), and below is Sophie on her changing table:

Flying time with mama!

Here are some fun family portraits:

Thanks Tom and Linda! I had so much fun with you all, I can’t wait to watch Sophie grow up into the wonderful woman that I know she will be! Love you guys

I did two “baby” sessions in the past two weeks. One was for my friend Linda who has an almost four month old baby girl named Sophie:

The second was for my friend Kirstin who is due in November with her second little boy. Her first is named Wesley, and he sure loves that belly

More pictures to come, I had to put up at least a sneak preview before I forgot!

Cute-Baby-In-Random-Places Pictures
Monday, February 23rd, 2009
Wes, Bryce and I went to Ikea on Saturday to get some new holders for our DVD’s. 1.) Because Bryce is eventually going to crawl and we didn’t want the DVD’s on the ground where she could pull at them, and 2.) I just noticed the old DVD holder has a broken foot and will probably fall on the aforementioned baby. That would be sad; obviously.
Anyway, I love to put my kid into random places and take pictures of her, I think it’s adorable
It’s nice now because she can sit up but can’t crawl yet. So if I leave her in one place, she pretty much stays there. I have to get these pictures out of the way now because I know once she learns how to crawl then it’s no more cute-baby-in-random-places pictures. By the way, there are a LOT of these… It was hard to narrow it down
And on to the pictures, because I know that is why you are really here. The kid:

When she has a “big-girl” bed, I’m totally buying this canopy, it’s awesome! If I weren’t a 26 year old adult, I might buy it for myself. Also, if I slept in a twin bed it might work. But I don’t.

Had to get a family picture while we were there!

Bryce loves to eat fake rocks. I’m sure Ikea employees were less than thrilled.

“This one! I want this one, mom!”

She adored that chair
I couldn’t get her to look at the camera for the life of me. Wes is standing off to the left which is where she’s looking. She’s always searching for him, even when he’s not home. After I’m done feeding her (we usually sit on the couch upstairs to nurse when we’re home) she’ll stand on my lap and stare into the closet or the bathroom looking for dad. It’s kind of cute.

She also loved this little egg-chair. Her hands were running everywhere!

This cart was her favorite! Immediately after I set her in there she was kicking her feet furiously and had the biggest grin! I realize that this is not a random place to have a baby, but I liked the picture and because this is my blog I’m putting it up here anyway

$10 for that cute soft toy! What a steal..
This is my favorite from the day. Wes set her in a big bin full of stuffed animals and she really could not be any cuter! People definitely stared
They were just jealous.

Anniversary Vacation
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009
Wes, Bryce and I took off to Gordonsville, VA for the weekend for a little getaway. Our anniversary was yesterday, the 5th, and we decided it would be nice to spend the weekend away. My mom and step-dad were nice enough to let us use one of their timeshares that was in Gordonsville. The ‘resort’ is about half an hour, or so, from Charlottesville, VA.
We stayed in a Yurt (go here for a picture of what they look like from the outside, I forgot to take one), which was pretty stinkin’ cool. When we walked inside, this was our view:
We had such a relaxing time at the yurt (I love that word…). We had no internet connection, no cellphone service. Nothing. It was kind of weird not having any connection to the “outside” world, but I soon found it to be very relaxing not having anything to worry about
Here’s some more Yurt pictures:
We then met up with my friend Maggie who lives in Charlottesville, VA. She was only about a half an hour away and she was kind enough to give us a mini-tour of Charlottesville. She showed us this wonderful sandwich place (and the name totally slipped my mind) which had only organic food (sandwiches, soups, etc), and was the MOST delicious sandwich I’d ever had:

It was called The Adam’s Apple Sandwich and it had turkey, bacon, lettuce, apple butter, granny smith apple slices, goat cheese, some kind of delicious sauce, and just wonderfulness all throughout. SO GOOD. Thank you Maggie

That’s Maggie with Bryce. Bryce certainly loved Maggie (and vice-versa, I’m sure!) A
After we had lunch, we went on a little excursion down the main path of downtown Charlottesville. It has so many cute little stores, and we stopped inside a few art stores and one awesomely cute bookstore made even cuter when our little one was visiting;

(seriously, now that she is sitting up, it makes it SO much easier to take pictures of her!)
We also found a chalk wall that people could write messages/names/obscenities/etc on. Maggie found the perfect little spot for Bryce to sit by (this is by far my favorite picture from the trip):

Of course there were many other photo ops to take advantage of:

And we had to get a group shot, thank you window reflection for obliging,
Bryce soon decided that she wanted to be a lump of potatoes and passed out in my arms. It was cute, but man is that kid getting heavy!

Wes and I went back to the yurt (yay yurt!) shortly thereafter and my wonderful husband grilled us some grass-fed steaks (YUM) along with grilled asparagus and some local VA wine. SO GOOD! I didn’t get a picture of the dinner cause I scarfed it down so quickly, but here is the cute little wine shop we got our local wine from:

Unfortunately we had to leave the next day… Hopefully we’ll be able to go back sometime in the future (or at least vacation somewhere else, I love seeing new places!). But here is a leaving shot of the beautiful Virginia country side. I was really hoping that the cows might come closer to the fence, but it was cold and they didn’t seem too interested so my patience quickly waned. So long cows!

Julian
Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008
My friend asked me to take some nursing photos of her and her son Julian the other day. They didn’t come out quite like I had imagined, but I still like them. Thanks again Pamela for allowing me to capture such an intimate moment! Also, I love the blanket! Bryce hasn’t quite gotten to use it yet as it has been wrapped around my shoulders while I sit on the couch in our cold room!
Until I became pregnant, I never knew how good breastfeeding was for your little bebe’s. I mean I knew it was better than formula, but in the end I thought it was all kind of similar. Nope! I don’t have time to get into how good breastfeeding is for your baby and even the mom, but here is an awesome website that just gives the basics of how awesome breast milk is for everyone. I’m so glad that I decided to breastfeed Bryce. It’s easier, cleaner, quicker, healthier, etc, etc… Now I’m not knocking formula, we had to supplement with Bryce for a week or two when she was a week old and, quite frankly, it helped her thrive because I didn’t have enough milk yet. But in the end, I love nursing her, and I love the bond that it creates, and I know she is better for it. And so am I
So anyways, enough chit-chat, here’s some pictures!

I took a few non-nursing photos of Julian in front of the Christmas tree. Here he is with his Santa hat, seriously too cute

(I love the above photo, I took it without looking through the viewfinder which is why part of his head is cut off, and I’m kind of bummed about that, but you know… take what you can get!)

Oh man, I love the tummy and the thighs… yummy

Please stop growing up…
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008
So my “little” girl is growing up… I always told Wes that she was allowed to learn how to sit up, but then she had to stop growing. So yesterday she started sitting up all on her own. She’s still a bit wobbly, but she’s definitely sitting up. Wes and I were talking about it, saying that we never even imagined that we would ever get here. But now the day is here, and it makes me sad, though I’m not quite sure why.
But, oh boy, does she love sitting now:
*sniff-sniff*

Thanksgiving and Christmastree Getting
Friday, December 5th, 2008
Clearly, I’m the best blogger. Ever. …..
Sorry for my lack of blogging, I’m not very good at uploading, or learning how to use Wordpress. I’ll get better eventually
My family had their annual Thanksgiving get-together this year, but we also combined it with our Christmas get-together because my cousin, Jessie, was in town from El Salvador and my Aunt Janet was also in town from Colorado. I have many pictures, but really, remember what I’m all about these days; my kid:

And here she is posing like a little diva:

Seriously, we’re in so much trouble with this girl
She was obviously the hit of the party, everyone got to love on and squeeze our little pumpkin. She was a gem! She has started to grab her feet when she lays on her back and then she rolls to the side, it’s freakin’ adorable. She love to eat her toes. I mean who wouldn’t want to eat those little piggies?

The Saturday after Thanksgiving, Wes and I went on a tree-hunting expedition with our housemates, Dave and Lauren, we love them
Here they are in all their smiling and wonderful goodness:

(this picture of course was one of few where Dave was not sticking out his tongue or trying to fart on the photographer
).
And of course we had to have a family picture!

But this will probably be the one that we send out for Christmas cards:

I’ll get better at writing posts one day (maybe). I just re-read what I wrote and realized I’m not as clever as I would like to be. But for now I’ll leave you with Dave and Lauren walking off into the sunset. Or at least some nice blue sky.

*sigh*
