Easter 2010
Tuesday, April 13th, 2010
Easter was a lot more fun this year (in my opinion) with Bryce because she could participate, and she loved it! She had so much fun trying to find the eggs around the yard. We did two egg hunts this year, one at Wes’ cousins house and one at my grandmothers house. The one at the cousins house had eggs with treats inside (and of course I had forgotten my camera…), but the eggs at my grandma’s were empty. Sad. Bryce was disappointed to say the least when she found nothing in the eggs the second time around.
But the pictures sure are cute
This is just one of many bunny decorations to be found at my grandmothers:

She was a super-speedy egg finder!

We had to keep stealing eggs out of her basket because we ran out of eggs to hide and she kept wanting to find more!

Some eggs were hanging out on dad’s feet. I remember finding eggs in my grandpa’s shirt collar, he was sitting in the same chair that Wes was sitting in. I think they would have gotten along

That face kills me

My grandmother grows the prettiest daffodils!

All done with the egg hunt this year.

We are so lucky to have a professional chef in our family! My aunt made the best coconut cake. Complete with peeps on top!

Bryce is still looking for candy in the eggs..

One more of the cake for good measure

And some beautiful tulips to end

Pumpkinville
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009
Bryce and I went to this little place off of 15 called Pumpkinville with Keri and Hailey. I had such a good time! Bryce was having a great time until she fell down the slide backwards and Keri had to catch her. Then the rest of the day was really hit or miss with her sparkling attitude
Anyway, we saw tons of baby animals, and were allowed to pet a few, even though the girls wanted nothing to do with them. I bet next year they’ll be chasing them around. This is a long one, so hang on to your hats!:
This is Bryce staring down a turtle that is like 28 times her size. It’s hard to tell the turtle’s size in this picture, but really… 28 times is not much of an exaggeration. The thing was ENORMOUS!

Here’s one of the cute little goats (and a picture of it’s CUTE FEET) that the girls wanted nothing to do with…

Some scary emu’s,

a cute little ladybug! I put it on Hailey, but she was not as excited about it as I was…

This llama kept following us around. And I swear it wanted to step on all the kids but never did because it knew that it probably wouldn’t get fed anymore after that.

Chickens! They were playing in the sandbox that the girls wanted to play in. Awesome.

Seriously, all these fun animals to play with, and all these neat things to do and they want to play in the dirt. Bryce cried when I picked her up and we moved on. Mom of the year…

We went on an awesome hayride. We were the only ones on, which was nice. Although at one point I swear I thought we were going to tip into the pond. Not so awesome.

We found a moon-bounce! Which was also not so much fun to drag them away from..

What a looker

Sharing time in the wagon. Well, I guess not so much sharing was going on. It was more “you can look but if you touch it I’ll hit you.”

“My preeeciouuus…” (oh man, those lips are killing me!)

Some goose gourds, or whatever they’re called.

The inspiration for the name of the place:

Cute little bugger:

Awww, she’s smiling!

Fun times had by all! Can’t wait till next year when they are big enough to not whine every 5 seconds. Yay!

California – Take 2: Napa
Saturday, August 1st, 2009
After almost a week in the East Bay Area we went up north and stayed with some friends in Vacaville. Somehow they escaped without me taking any pictures of them… Anyway, we went up to Napa one of those days as it was only an hour away. We visited 2 vineyards (with a baby! You can do it too!): Frog’s Leap Winery and Peju Vineyards. Such fun
The scenery at Frog’s Leap was absolutely amazing! And the wine at Peju was just… mmmm…. yes please. They also make a Merlot chocolate sauce which I could DRINK everyday if I was allowed. We bought one can of it and, unfortunately, gave it to a friend. So now we don’t have any for us. Bummer.
Frog’s Leap:

Here’s one of the views at Frog’s Leap. It doesn’t even come close to the beauty that we really saw! And talk about lovely weather… *sigh*

This is the table next to where we sat. We got to hang out on a porch, overlooking gorgeousness whilst sipping on some wine and nibbling cheeses and crackers.

Here’s Bryce lounging in Wes’ chair. She could not have been a better or cuter baby

I want one of these in the next place we live. It’ll be a tough time drinking all that wine, but you know, we’ll suffer through it.

Just some mother/daughter bonding time. Well, she’s signing for Daddy, soo… whatever

Just some pretty little things.

This is by far one of my favorite images from the trip. We put Bryce in the middle of some vines and she just hung out and smiled
Seriously, we could not ask for a better child! I can’t wait to blow this up and frame it.
Peju Vineyards:

Here’s Bryce playing in one of the fountains at Peju. This was her favorite part of the day!

Inside the tasting room at Peju. What a beautiful room! The style was just stunning! But I was bummed, after tasting outdoors at Frog’s Leap, that we had to taste inside. But you know, we sucked it up

Wes and Bryce having a head-butting contest. So apparently I didn’t have very many favorite pictures of Peju, but the wines overall were so much better than anything, so I guess I really didn’t care at the time!
Take 3 coming soon

The Rafferty Sisters
Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Eileen and I used to work together at the Adoption Center of Washington. I was there as an intern my senior year at Mason while going for my Social Work degree. She emailed a while ago and asked if I would take pictures of her and her sisters for their parents anniversary. We walked around Georgetown on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, and EVERYONE was out!
But we had tons of fun anyways, there was definitely a lot of jumping
And here they are in no particular order (because I am once again running out of time tonight):

(aw, I should have uploaded the color one because there is an amazing red door behind them. Just imagine, please.)

Boy do I ever love this cobblestone street!

And oddly enough, this being the last picture of this post, it was one of the first pictures I took that evening. Well, I guess that’s not odd. Anyway…
Thanks, Eileen! Hope your parents liked them!

Go.

Sooo, I know it’s a Visa commercial, but you have to admit, it is kind of inspiring!
Problem is, the kid is asleep, and it’s raining and that really demotivates me.
Wow… Way to bring a downer to the blog, Amanda.

DC Flickr Meetup
Thursday, March 19th, 2009
Dude… I suck at blogging… oh well
Last Saturday, Wes, Bryce and I went to DC to meet up with some fun friends from Flickr. There were a BUNCH of people that I did not know, and a few that I did. Some people came from New York and Pennsylvania just to be involved in this fun group of awesomeness.
Here’s some pictures from the cold, grey (but fun) day:
These are people that I actually do know, on the top we have Erin and John (they both live in Ashburn), and on the bottom we have another Erin (who lives in New York) and her boyfriend Jason (who lives in Fairfax). They are pretty much awesome

Here is the action! When you get a bunch of photographer together you get some, um… weird pictures. I’ll let you guess what their pictures turned out like

Another picture of Jason and Erin. I seem to have a lot of those, they’re just so darn cute together!

Ahh, the Capitol.
And the Lincoln Memorial.

The baby passed out pretty early in her AWESOME, new-to-us, only-$30-from-Craigslist stroller

And speaking of the baby… This just melts my heart
*sigh*

And here’s the other love of my life in front of the Monument. Patriotic Wes

Looking up at the monument and a flag.

We found this awesome tree that was right next to the monument, and of course, had to take pictures in it. Bryce wanted her own close up, and it’s hard to not oblige her

Hey! It’s Super-Baby!

Did you know that they empty the Reflecting Pool in the winter? I didn’t either… Apparently it is so the water does not expand and break the cement. Who knew? Wes decided that he wanted to take a little dip. In the empty Reflecting Pool. In the cold. He is a crazy man

Of course we had to do a jumping shot!
(are you tired yet of all the pictures and my lame narrative? I am

Another picture to add to the Baby in Random Places book
I think I’m going to call it, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.” Although I feel like that might be copyright infringement. Sorry, Dr. Seuss.

cuuuupcakes!
Wes had to leave early in order to get to the Edge practice at church. So before we left the area I made sure that we visited Georgetown Cupcakes. I had a craving and I needed it fulfilled (no, I’m not pregnant again…). BEST. CUPCAKES. EVER. And totally worth the wait in the drizzling rain! And worth it to make us rush to get back home in time
The flavors we got were (top, l-r) Mocah, Chocolate3, Peanut-butter/Chocolate, (bottom, l-r) Vanilla, Chocolate2, and Red Velvet. Please wipe the drool off your screen.
And now the baby is awake so I must go

Cute-Baby-In-Random-Places Pictures
Monday, February 23rd, 2009
Wes, Bryce and I went to Ikea on Saturday to get some new holders for our DVD’s. 1.) Because Bryce is eventually going to crawl and we didn’t want the DVD’s on the ground where she could pull at them, and 2.) I just noticed the old DVD holder has a broken foot and will probably fall on the aforementioned baby. That would be sad; obviously.
Anyway, I love to put my kid into random places and take pictures of her, I think it’s adorable
It’s nice now because she can sit up but can’t crawl yet. So if I leave her in one place, she pretty much stays there. I have to get these pictures out of the way now because I know once she learns how to crawl then it’s no more cute-baby-in-random-places pictures. By the way, there are a LOT of these… It was hard to narrow it down
And on to the pictures, because I know that is why you are really here. The kid:

When she has a “big-girl” bed, I’m totally buying this canopy, it’s awesome! If I weren’t a 26 year old adult, I might buy it for myself. Also, if I slept in a twin bed it might work. But I don’t.

Had to get a family picture while we were there!

Bryce loves to eat fake rocks. I’m sure Ikea employees were less than thrilled.

“This one! I want this one, mom!”

She adored that chair
I couldn’t get her to look at the camera for the life of me. Wes is standing off to the left which is where she’s looking. She’s always searching for him, even when he’s not home. After I’m done feeding her (we usually sit on the couch upstairs to nurse when we’re home) she’ll stand on my lap and stare into the closet or the bathroom looking for dad. It’s kind of cute.

She also loved this little egg-chair. Her hands were running everywhere!

This cart was her favorite! Immediately after I set her in there she was kicking her feet furiously and had the biggest grin! I realize that this is not a random place to have a baby, but I liked the picture and because this is my blog I’m putting it up here anyway

$10 for that cute soft toy! What a steal..
This is my favorite from the day. Wes set her in a big bin full of stuffed animals and she really could not be any cuter! People definitely stared
They were just jealous.
