The Gebels: Part 3 (Virginia Wedding Photographer)
Sunday, September 5th, 2010
Ok guys, I think we’re gonna finish this up today with a few details from the rest of Emily and Zach’s wedding
Emily was definitely not one to skimp on the details, and while I’m not posting them all, everything was perfectly done!
Here’s the outdoor bar with a chalkboard telling you what kind of beer you could have (sidenote: there was also sweet tea – YEAH! – and at the end of the night they served iced coffee with the cake instead of hot coffee because it was SO HOT outside, good call!)

The bourbon that Zach wanted because he was a fan of old-fashioned’s:

The place settings were super-cute as well, I know that the wedding party and family put these together all themselves. I love how everyone’s name was stamped on their place setting. That was just one of those small details that totally pulled things together.

Each table had a lemon marker with a number telling you where you should be located,

Each table (which were really long), had several cakes each,

This is the bride and groom nephew and niece, they really enjoyed playing with the water fountain out front!

Water never tasted so good

Lining the path from the parking area to the barn were bags filled with candles and it looked incredible when the sun was setting!

This was pretty much the dance floor the entire night, what a fun party it was!

Zach decided to jump in and help the bartender make old-fashioned’s the way that he liked them,

This is also pretty much how the bar outside looked the entire evening

Zach and Emily, thanks once again SO much for allowing me to be a part of your day! What a fun and special wedding to be able to capture. You two are awesome and I can’t wait to meet up with you again someday

The Gebels: Part 2 (Virginia Wedding Photographer)
Sunday, August 29th, 2010
I am off to bed soon, but I wanted to share a few more pictures from the Gebels wedding day.
I love these two, it was obvious that these two had so much fun together

And seriously, this wedding party was awesome, they rocked that tractor, I think:

My most favorite wedding party shot ever (nothing real special about it, I just love it):

The boys looking quite daper:

Awww
(the lighting was perrrrfect!)

I tried to get them to eat off of the same piece of corn on the cob, but Emily kept laughing at the ridiculous faces that Zach would make and she couldn’t bring herself to do it

More later!!

The Gebels (Virginia Wedding Photographer)
Tuesday, August 17th, 2010
So this post is like two months late! Ha! I had the honor to photograph the most wonderful, lovely wedding on the Eastern Shore back in June. The bride, Emily, is a sister of one of my friends from high school whose (whos?) wedding I also photographed a few years ago
Emily wanted to go with a kind of vintagy/old feeling for her wedding, and she definitely pulled it off. It was so fun! The wedding reception was at the Groom’s family’s barn on the Eastern Shore in Virginia. The barn had been newly renovated and the entire wedding party helped with the decorations, lights, cakes, everything! It was truly a family and friends affair.

Emily had bought some vintage brooches for her bridesmaids as gifts, and they pinned them on their bouquets for the evening. She also had all her girls pick their own dresses in yellow. I love when brides give their bridesmaids that option of wearing a dress that suits their own body type and personality. It makes the girls much more comfortable and then they are able to have a better time.

Emily’s dress was of course gorgeous, bought from a boutique in New York.

Waiting for her dad to walk her down the aisle.

Yay for being married! WOO!

I have a TON more, but they are going to have to wait for another day. Hopefully not another two months

Dude, I know… Blogging is not my thing. But I’m gonna keep trying. Maybe one day, right?
I recently had the honor of photographing the wedding of two good friends. I met the groom while in the choir at our church, and the bride I met over time as they started dating. I *instantly* liked Linda, from the very start. She is one of those very unassuming people who makes you feel comfortable and as though you’ve known her for a long time. Jim I have known for a few years, and while he is closer to my husband, I’ve always considered him a good friend. He is funny, smart and you know for sure that Jim is one of those loyal friends who would do anything for you!
The wedding was gorgeous, yet laid back and relaxing. This is probably the least stressed out I have ever been while photographing a wedding. Both Jim and Linda went with the flow, whatever happened is what happened (not that anything bad happened, the day went so smoothly), they were flexible and receptive to what would come their way.
Jim and Linda, thanks again for choosing me, I had so much fun and felt more like a guest than your photographer on your big day
Linda got ready at her maid of honors house, but her dress was waiting for her in the basement at her parents house (which, by the way, is now Jim and Linda’s house because her parents moved out). It was a very European home (Linda and her family are from Denmark), and I loved every inch of it
Linda’s “bridal room” was very clean and open. Quite soothing!

Linda stepping into her dress, her maid of honor is on the other side of her helping her out,

I’m not sure what it is about this photo that I really enjoy, but I sure do love it!

Linda was SO excited when the car came to pick her up! She was thrilled that she was about to get married

Linda is one very eco-conscious woman. She wanted her florist to be as green as possible in the choices that were made for their flowers. Most of Linda’s flowers (including the centerpieces on the tables) were from the florists very own garden! I got to take a centerpiece home with me and it is still sitting outside on our porch (although I think I really need to water it at this point because it has been incredibly HOT here in NoVA!).

Last minute touch-ups,

On the way to see her groom!

Not the best picture, but the paparazzi were everywhere!

WOOHOO!!

So happy to be married

One of the awesome centerpieces:

I forgot to mention that the wedding was at the Hay-Adams hotel in Washington, DC (yup, the one by the White House). And people let me tell you… this was one of the BEST brunches I have ever had! I mean, they had a WAFFLE BAR! Brides, this is one option that will not disappoint anyone. Guaranteed.

More of the beautiful centerpieces. Linda was telling me that most (if not all) of the centerpieces had herbs and flowers in them were able to be used in cooking!

Linda relaxing with a glass of champagne

Shrimp Cocktail!

Behind the food stations there were some couches set up that you could relax and hang out on. There was definitely some cigar smoking times being held throughout the ordeal.

I’m assuming Linda’s dad is busting on Jim, but I can’t remember what he was saying

The Hay-Adams has some beautiful China!

Linda and Jim used Georgetown cupcake for their sweets (again future Brides, another option that will never disappoint!). YUM!

They’re cute

Oh, and did I mention that this was our view from the rooftop terrace? We could see the snipers and workers on the roof of the White House. How awesome is that?!

Listening to a speech by the maid of honor, and seriously, could not be cuter

*sigh*… what a wonderful wedding. So beautiful and full of love from two of the most genuine people I know

This is a long picture post! I had forgotten that I hadn’t posted about it yet, they were married the first weekend in January, and it’s almost March, that’s how far behind I am on this, oops!
I had a really good time at this wedding, albeit the FREEZING COLD WEATHER! There went all our plans to take pictures outside! It was really just too cold and windy, but thankfully the inside of the church was nice and cozy, full of excitement
Deborah had such a quiet joy, it was so fun to watch her and be with her while she prepared to get ready to marry her future husband. Ken was almost bubbling over with energy when I first saw him! So despite the frigid temperatures outside, it was such a lovely January wedding!
Here’s a few details:

Deborah getting her hair worked on:

Putting on the dress! Yay!

A quick smooch from mom

I don’t know why, but I love this one of the flower girl, “Come on, guys!!”

I love the glances that the fathers give their daughters as they are walking down the aisle. Deborah is clearly not paying attention to her father, but to her groom. And Dad didn’t take his eyes off his daughter until the reception was over.

First kisses are so fun

Love this one, complete adoration,

Yay! Marriage!

Some quiet time for the bride and groom,

Another favorite of mine
The reception was at Maggiano’s in Tysons Corner, one of my favorite restaurants. And let me tell you, the food did not disappoint! And the dessert… mmm….

Because their wedding was so close to Christmas, there were still Christmas trees and lights everywhere! So of course I had to add a little bokeh for their collection

The flower girls were SO CUTE!

First dance -

I like their faces in this one, they seem to have finally relaxed

Yeah, cake!

The faces of the little girls kill me, “please, please, come to me!”

The bride and her girls. Ya gotta have some jump shots!

Thanks, Ken and Deborah for allowing me to be a part of your day! I had so much fun getting to know you and watch you enter into this new phase of your life!

A December Wedding (Northern Virginia Wedding Photographer)
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010
Oh my gosh.. bad blogger! So far behind!
Photographed a beautiful, small wedding in December (I know, it’s almost February…). It’s fun watching two people get married who are honestly made for each other. I didn’t know Nicole and Adam very well before the wedding, but just watching their interactions with one another and seeing how much they were supported by their friends and family, it’s clear that they are truly supposed to be with the other
There’s a lot of photos ahead, so buckle up!
I don’t know what it is about makeup brushes, but I sure do love them! Surprisingly, I have none at home…

I love a bride who wears different shoes! Nicole had some rocking-white Puma’s that she wore! Way to be comfortable, it’s the only way to go

On the way to the ceremony:

I love these moments, right before the bride walks down the aisle, the nervous, and giddy smile behind the closed doors

The church was beautiful! They were married at Our Lady of Hope in Potomac Falls, which was right across the street from where they got ready at her brother’s house.

A little fun in the elevator at the church. I loooove mirrored elevators, so much fun!

Nicole is busting on the maid of honor because she forgot to unbustle Nicole’s train before she walked down the aisle

The cake! Sadly, another wedding where I didn’t get any cake.. I heard it was good though! Sure was pretty.

The pianist:

Nicole’s maid of honor memorizing (and posing with) her speech:

CHEERS!

Fun ring shot
Thanks to one of the groomsmen for the fantastic idea, I think it came out great!

Congrats Nicole and Adam! Thanks for letting me be a part of your day, it was so fun and special

Wedding: Eran and Justin
Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
I helped a friend by second shooting a wedding last Thursday (yay for cheaper prices!). I hadn’t done a wedding since Bryce was 3 months old, and even then, I was only there for maybe 3 hours. Anyway, I still got completely exhausted towards the end of this wedding. I couldn’t even make it to the boquet toss or anything. Granted, the wedding ran late, but my stamina has completely gone downhill since having a baby! I’m gonna have to do some working out or something over here
The wedding was at Meadowlark Gardens in Vienna. I have been there a few times, but always with family and it was when I was younger, so I always felt like I was being draaaaaged around. Now I totally understand the appeal. It’s SO beautiful there! Eran and Justin totally lucked out on getting the first gorgeous day of the year, it was an absolutely stunning day! Probably 70 degrees, no humidity (rare here in NoVa) and just sunny, sunny, sunny!
Anyway, pictures:

Eran and (I’m assuming) her bridesmaids made small cakes for ALL of the tables at the reception! What a cute idea! I can’t imagine how much work went into all of this, but it seems that they certainly worked their butts off. And because I took off early, I didn’t get a chance to try any of the wonderful looking cakes. But I’m sure they were awesome!

I like this, the mom watching her daughter as she is getting ready. I like watching the moms/dads throughout weddings, you can totally see the love in their eyes for their children. It’s so sweet

Tiny wedding dress detail.

More dress details.

Shoes!!

Some tree details from the gardens. I love cherry blossoms, but I love the trees with the purple buds that come out after the cherry blossoms are done blooming. Anyone know what they’re called? Also, the trees in the ceremony area had small, round mirrors haning in them. It was wonderful, they added some nice sparkle to the ceremony time. (And sidnote – the difference between the medium size pictures versus the large size pictures on this Wordpress blog are A LOT! Geeze…)

The sun hit Eran at one point and she just shined (not that she wasn’t shining anyway!). During one of the prayers she lifted her head back, the breeze caught her veil, and it was just the perfect moment. I can only imagine how the sun felt at this point in the ceremony.

Awww, yay! They’re married! I wish the green on the chairs came out more, they were fantastically wonderful

CLOSE-UP!

I adore this picture. Eran is holding her bouquet (our left) and a bridesmaids who was trying to do another duty. Anyway, I just love the veil (even though it is blown out), her body language, and how happy she looks.

Another lovely portrait of Eran.

Eran’s bridesmaids were holding her (humongously long) train for her as we were going to a new place to take pictures, so I hollered for them to strike a pose and this is what we got! They were such fun ladies

Watch out, folks, you might get burned from the hottness! I put the veil over their faces and Justin says, “Sooo, no one can see us under here, right?” I said, “nope!”, and he replies with, “raawwrrr…” I love it

Teeny Pictures
Tuesday, October 7th, 2008
So I didn’t realize how small the pictures would be when I chose to upload them as “small”. Oops. But clearly I am too lazy to re-upload them, so you’re just gonna have to squint for this one
(Although if you click on the picture it will show up big for you.)
I helped a friend out with a wedding back in August (man was it hot!). He was photographing their wedding for free but needed some help. I like second-shooting a wedding because you can pretty much shoot what you like, and do a lot of detail shots that the first shooter might miss because they are busy with what the bride and groom want. Although, I don’t like being second-shooter because you have to follow someone else around and have to do what they ask.
In any case, it was fun, I had a good time. I’m glad I wasn’t the main shooter because I hadn’t been on my feet that long since Bryce was born. So I was able to leave early when I got super-tired, which was nice.
I loved how he was holding her dress up for her as they were walking around the grounds, adorable
They held hands the entire day, too cute!
Well, I’m glad I finally got around to posting that wedding. Hopefully there will be some more posting in the future
